Every year we get together with Alan’s mom and brother to cook up a giant batch of Sicilian christmas cookies called cuccidati. This year we were back at the elder Caudill abode, and the process seemingly went quicker than in years past.
What’s a cuccidati you ask? Quite simply it’s a magical fig (and other fruit) filled cookie made with the most wonderfully buttery dough. It’s a tradition in Alan’s family, and one that I’ve been involved with for … too many years now to count. Here’s what 2013 looked like.
