We’re in Dublin this week doing a scouting trip in advance of our move here later this summer. While Alan’s at his office today in the suburbs, I ran around the city center, scoping out some neighborhoods and visiting a museum or two. My favorite part was walking through St. Stephen’s Green which is located right outside our hotel.
As you can probably tell from the pics, it’s a cloudy day. In fact, about mid-way through my exploring – during which time I managed to get lost (even with the aid of Google maps) – it started to sprinkle, and then it was coming down hard. The trees outside my hotel room are blowing furiously in the wind and I can hear the rain pelting the windows. Unfortunately, this means that every business has the heat on and since the jacket I brought with me is a wool pea coat, I am constantly hot and sweaty. I went into Marks & Spencer (or is it just M&S) to see about getting a lightweight trench but they didn’t have any and I somehow found myself down in the grocery store level which was divine since it’s cooled. I ended up buying a sandwich and eating lunch there.
Confession: I am totally obsessed with grocery stores. Love them! So while some may think grabbing a pre-made sandwich in a basement grocery store is a crappy way to spend my first solo lunch of this trip, I was in hog heaven.
I have no idea what I’m going to do tomorrow. Maybe check out Ballsbridge?
