Who knew watching the World Cup in a handful of different pubs across the city would lead to me enjoying rugby so darn much? Certainly not me, but here I am a handful of weeks later and I’m kind of obsessed. Alan and I went to our first game a number of weeks ago, and while he was in San Francisco for work, I ventured out to RDS by myself for another match. Then, this past Sunday we made our way back to RDS for a daytime game that kicked off Leinster’s European Cup play. Alas, the game was a major stinker and Leinster loss bad. I mean, horrifically bad. To the point where people were leaving the arena in droves well before the game was even over. Not us though. We stayed until the very bitter end, and I have plans to hit up as many future games as I can. In fact, I’ve contacted the ticket office and put our names on the waiting list for season tickets for next year. And, like any good fan, I’m starting to amass my official gear to wear/bring to the game – we left RDS with a flag and a scarf. It was pretty warm on Sunday so the scarf wasn’t needed, but given the way the temperatures are falling now, I’m guessing I’m going to be needing even more than that for the December 19 match against Toulon at Aviva Stadium.
