I had to venture down to the city center today (for a completely worthless meeting that could have happened over email or the phone) so I found myself in Temple Bar at 5 p.m., just as the sun was starting to set.
Sunset in a cloudy, rainy city like Dublin is a bit of a misnomer since you don’t actually get to see the sun set all that often. Instead the sky turns a steely grey blue which signals businesses it’s time to turn on their lights for the evening. A lot of people complain about the lack of any real sunset around here, but I love that moment of evening just before dark descends and everything looks a bit dreamlike.
Won’t you join me on my early evening walk of Dublin’s Temple Bar district? I promise you’re likely never to see it as tourist free as it is in these pics.
