When I first looked into booking our trip to Venice, I had one of two hotels in mind but I hesitated in pulling the trigger and by the time I went back to book, the price had gone up by several hundred dollars. I was a bit frantic at that point, but after reading the reviews here on TripAdvisor and getting a good package price, I reserved our room at Baglioni Hotel Luna and hoped for the best. I wasn’t disappointed.
We arrived in the late afternoon and I was surprised to see just how close to Piazza San Marco the hotel was since, for some reason, I had pictured it being much further away from this area. While we only spent a couple of hours nearby touring the Doge’s Palace, having such a central location made it easy for us to venture out to other neighborhoods without worrying about getting lost or our wanderings taking too long.
When I booked our room via Expedia, I had paid for an upgraded room but I think we got the lowest level room in the hotel based on the website’s description. I don’t fault the hotel, but rather Expedia for offering something as an “upgrade” when the category of room we were in was actually the lowest level. Ultimately it didn’t matter however because the room was large, beautifully furnished, and incredibly comfortable. Oh, and the bathroom was divine. It made me realize how much I miss having a large, luxurious bathroom at home. We got really sick while in Venice so having such a comfortable room turned out to be incredibly beneficial. I spent several hours in bed and much to my relief, my back never hurt. Service throughout the hotel was prompt, courteous, and thorough. The manager/concierge even left us a bottle of chilled prosecco to celebrate our anniversary.
If you’re unsure about where to stay in Venice, but are interested in luxury, service, and value, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
